Our Recruitment Process

Like any other serious organization, Universal Emergency Services is always seeking to hire the best and most qualified members to serve our community. To ensure we are getting exactly that, UES has a sophisticated and rigid hiring process in place for applicants to go through. The mission of Universal Emergency Services is to provide a safe, friendly, realistic and well organized role-play environment for any individual interested in a career in emergency services or for those who simply enjoy the thrill of role-playing. We are looking for professionals who can help us achieve our mission statement and community objectives. With that being said, we want all persons who go through our process to treat our process seriously. Regardless of what path you choose within UES, both hold the same expectations and steps to become a member. Below you will find each phase to our hiring process and a description of each.

1. Application

Submitting an electronic application is the first step to obtaining membership with Universal Emergency Services. Our applications are lengthy and require time to complete. It is imperative that applicants take their time when filling out their application. The smallest typo or neglecting to read instructions can lead to the dismissal of a person's application. Applications are reviewed thoroughly and reasons for dismissal are the forefront of recruitment staffs focus.

2. Ranking Interview

The ranking interview takes place with UES administrative staff. This is the last phase a candidate will take part in before the eligibility list is established for phase four. This interview follows basic interview principles. Candidates will be asked questions regarding their personality and experience. The interview is pass/fail.

3. Background Investigation

Upon completion of phase three, all results of previous phases are submitted to Universal Emergency Services Internal Affairs. At this point, our internal affairs agents investigate all information and references provided. The background investigation is pass/fail.

4. Regional Law Enforcement Academy or Introduction to Civilian Operations

Once background investigations are complete, the remaining candidates are selected based on who scored highest to lowest. If UES is seeking to hire a specific amount of people, the first of however many candidates will be selected for training. Any additional persons will be disqualified from the process or be held on an eligibility list for the next process. The choice of disqualification or maintaining the eligibility list is at the discretion of UES Executive Administration. Depending on which path the candidate chooses, he/she will then be sent to attend training with UES training staff.

Training in UES is extensive and requires a high attendance rate if candidates wish to pass. It is important that candidates, now cadets, pay close attention to all that their instructors have to say. Cadets spend hours training and then reviewing information learned within our academies. Officers are trained for a period of 9 days, three hours each day. Civilians are trained for a period of ten days, two hours each day. Training for officers is hands-on and interactive scenario training is at the heart of that experience. Civilians, however, spend a majority of their time in a classroom setting, reviewing expectations of members and roleplaying techniques/methods.

The successful completion of each of the five phases grants an applicant full membership and employment within Universal Emergency Services.
